A small lake about 1 km around and 18 m deep, ringed by old-growth forest. Seen from the air it is heart-shaped, hence the nickname 'Heart Lake', and northern pikas live in the woods around it.

Getting there
By car only, from National Route 336 at Meguro, Erimo, along a gravel forest road by the Saruru River (about 2 h from Tokachi-Obihiro Airport); 200 m walk from the car park to the shore
Easier with a tour or car
Fee
Free parking
Good to know
The road is not cleared of snow in winter, so cars cannot get through. Large buses and low cars will struggle on the gravel road. The car-park toilet closed on Nov 30, 2024. The heart shape cannot be seen from the ground
